2009 Moon days

I just got given my first 2009 diary, its a nice bound one, with lovely world maps in the back. I decided to look and see how the Moon days fall next year, ie how many Sunday ones there are, having managed to get from March 2008 through the rest of the year without one getting in the way of my Sunday Shala practice. Well there are 5 Sunday’s in 2009 that are a Moon day, the first being the first one back after the Christmas holidays on Sunday 11th January, so my yoga year will have to wait until 18th January to begin, though I can feel a criminal Saturday practice on 10th January may have to happen, I need my fix. If your yoga day is a Tuesday, then you only have one Moon day in 2009. Out of the 25 Moon days in 2009, Sunday has 5, Monday 5, Tuesday just 1, Wednesday 5, Thursday 5 and Friday and Saturday 2 each. Well that’s passed an hour, inside the final hour now.

That is so weird that you did this today, because I did the same exact thing! I was working on my December schedule and started to look towards January and couldn’t find a list of Moon Days for 2009. I thought it didn’t always perfectly match up with a traditional full/new moon timetable though. I can’t seem to find it on any shala websites or schedules.

That stinks for you that so many fall on a Sunday. But you seem resourceful and will work around it I’m sure. Sundays and Fridays are the worst for Moon Day. Two days off is one too many! That’s why I love having a teacher and community that respects the tradition, we are all creaky and stiff together. One of my wonderful shala-mates made us magnets that say “I (heart) Moon Days. Ha!

I listed our moon days in the comment below

I don’t know if our moon days in the UK are the same as for people in other countries. Its annoying the first Sunday back is a Moon day, there are 2 in October on alternate weeks which is really annoying, the one in May is the holiday weekend so the shala may be closed anyway, but there’s always the criminal Saturday mornings at the other place!

I love that idea for magnets. One of the shalas in London has tea mugs with “Yoga Kills” on them ha ha…

Moon days? What’s the matter with you man – just come down to your ‘old’ shala on that day!

    I promise I won’t grass on you.

Just pls come and play on a moon day. 🙂
