No stomach muscles!

Finally got to practice again last night. Despite still being tired, I managed to do a whole Primary series, all vinyasas between sides etc. Standing was ok until I got to the point of UHP where the foot stays up without assistance and realised that all this coughing, plus Monday’s night’s treatment has left my stomach muscles totally devoid of strength, my stomach just aches.

I noticed my right knee condescended to be a little higher up the hip in Ardha Badha, so when I got to Marichyasana B, I decided to see if I could bind with the foot in lotus on the second side, just about was the answer and only for a couple of breaths. Mari D bind on the first side didn’t seem to take that much effort, or was it because unlike Sunday I actually had some energy. Navasana was the next time I noticed my lack of stomach muscles, that is so hard when there’s nothing to help keep you upright. I am pleased to say I bound both ends of Supta K.

Pushing up into backbends was hard, I only managed one good one. I tried some dropbacks after, but noticed I couldn’t seem to get the connection or engagement in the front of the body, stomach or thighs. I suppose it shows how far I have got in the last few months when I notice which parts of the body subtly need to engage for postures to happen.

But at least I managed a whole practice, I just need to get rid of this cough, its lack of sleep that is doing me in. I don’t want to get antibiotics from the Doctor because they would defeat the object of the (pricey) Probiotics the Nutritionist has me on.

Hang in there. I know a family that swears by honey for coughs. I go for the stronger stuff. Stay with the probiotics!

I’m getting to the point of selling my soul for 8 hours sleep!
