Talking of Mysore

Wish I was still there.

I’m becoming envious now of all those folk still in Mysore as they blog about the heat and sweat of practice. Back in blighty it’s bloody cold, practice is hard, Garbha is too much cold water and not enough space to rock and roll. I’m looking forward to this weekends two Shala practices, I hope TLC and YP have the heating cranked up.

Between the two practices I am giving a 30 minute or so talk on Mysore in Covent Garden on Saturday afternoon to around 100 people, I plan to give them some background about why I was there and the Shala, then before they fall asleep, tell them about the city and what else we get up to apart from sticking our legs behind our head and eating. Anyone can go to the talks, details below.

Speaking this month on Saturday, January 7, 2012 we have:

Phil Coley – Japan

and two mini talks from

Kevin Brackley – Mysore

Gavin Fernandes – Across Kashmir by bus, bike and jeep

London Meetings are held at The Church of Scotland, Crown Court, behind the Fortune Theatre in Covent Garden at 2.30pm (usually) the first Saturday of each month. The hall is reached via an alleyway beside the Fortune Theatre.

Admission: Members £3.00 Non-members £6.00

here’s the deal kevin; after 3 months in mysore, you’re mustn’t feel jealous of those who are there…Be present, be where you are, and if you want to go back then just work on your plan but remember to live each day in your time and space and not wishing to be somewhere you are not. Especially when you already had a great long trip to that very place some only dream of getting to!!

      Ha ha Mel,

Staying present back here in reality is hard after such a wonderful 3 months, coming back with nothing to look forward to. I made no plans for when I came back and now as reality bites, no job, no income I can only dream of going to Mysore again

Do you know if the Sunday Pranayama is on ?

      • daydreamingmel Says:

staying present when times are good is easy. keeping with the programme when you don’t know what’s next *is* the yoga ( – forget standing up from backbends or whatever else it may be). Easier said than done I know, but this is the practice….

and yep, it will be my last sunday as lady of the door so pranayama should be on! C is going away next week but I’m pretty sure she said from Tuesday onwards.

  2. Wayne Says:

Kev, really wish I could come hear your talk. You’ll be brilliant!

  3. globie Says:

My problem is I don’t know what the program is, the days have no proper structure. Trying to stand up is what’s in focus, everything else is a blur.

Forgot you are lady of that door as well. Havnt seen C since September, she was away last time I made it to YP.

    See you Sunday

Hard as it may be to know at the moment, there will be something (new job / structure / direction) coming your way Kevin. It’s just a matter of hanging on, and keeping your eyes open. The universe will provide – as I think Mel was saying … 🙂
